Primary and Secondary Education

The Flin Flon School District offers a supportive and tight-knit community of students, parents, and educators that only a small community can offer.

All of Flin Flon’s schools offer a wide variety of extra-curricular clubs based on student interest, including school athletics, swimming, crocheting, lego, cross-country skiing, choir, drama, board games, and walking clubs.

The school district also takes full advantage of Flin Flon’s natural surroundings through it’s outdoor education program, where students from grades 6-12 have the opportunity to learn wilderness skills through canoe tripping, camping, and winter survival/safety.

Ruth Betts Community School is a K-8 primary school that integrates community resources and participation to create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

Ecole McIsaac School is a dual-track K-8 primary school that offers both English and French curricula.

Hapnot Collegiate is Flin Flon’s 9-12 high school that offers English and French Immersion curricula. The school also hosts a strong athletics program, music and band, and applied technology courses.

Many Faces is a 9-12 high school that offers alternative and adult education programming offering flexible education and graduation timelines.


Post-secondary Education

University College of the North (UCN)’s Northern Manitoba Mining Academy prepares students with the skills and mindset they need to succeed in life-changing careers in Canada’s mining industry. Entry into the program is highly competitive, and nearly all graduating students receive job offers by the time they leave the program.

UCN’s Diploma of Practical Nursing is a two-year, hands-on program where students can become accredited as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The program is offered in a dedicated facility located in downtown Flin Flon!
